Crochet Cookies -a fat-free treat!

A perfect plan for the New Year -shift the Christmas podge by occupying your hands...and at least you won't eat these (unless you have freaky need to eat wool...)

For instructions and close-ups of Oreo's, Jammie Dodgers and Nice biscuits, read on...

You will need:
Scraps of wool in biccie colours (ok, so I didn't measure it out, but balls of yarn the size of apricots will do it):
Crochet hook -Size 3 or 3.5 mm
Darning needle

Oreo-esque cookie:

Biscuit base: (make 2 in dark brown) Ch 4, jn with slpstch into ring.
Dc 10 into the circle. Jn with slpstch.
Ch 3, trc twice into each dc from the row below. Jn back at the beginning with a slpstch.
Fasten in ends.
Icing stuffing: With white yarn, sc into the inner loop on the wrong side of the biscuit (this will make sense when you attempt it!!) Jn with slpstch when back at the start, then repeat, but this time adding the other biscuit. Basically your hook should go through a brown loop first, white loop second and pull the sc stitch through. Fasten off ends.

Jammie Dodger:

Biscuit base: (make 2 in light brown) Ch 4, jn with slpstch into ring.
Dc 10 into the circle. Jn with slpstch.
Ch 3, trc twice into each dc from the row below. Jn back at the beginning with a slpstch.
Fasten in ends.
Jammie insides: With red yarn, sc into the inner loop on the wrong side of the biscuit (this will make sense when you attempt it!!) Jn with slpstch when back at the start, then repeat, but this time adding the other biscuit. Basically your hook should go through a brown loop first, red loop second and pull the sc stitch through. Fasten off ends.
Heart: In red, ch4 and jn with a slpstch into circle. Into circle, Dc3, trc3, sc1, trc3, dc3, jn with slpstch. Leave a long enough tail to attach to biscuit. Place in centre of biscuit and sew up over the top of heart, back through to point and into centre (it just looks neat!). Fasten off tidily.

Nice biccie:
(make 2 in light brown) Ch7. Turn, and dc in each stitch. At end of row, ch2, and 2dc the next stitch (this is your first corner). 2dc in next stitch, then dc back down the other side. Repeat the corner process (this is a bit like a rectangular granny square without the gaps). At the end of the round, join with slpstch, then ch2 and add another round of dc, remembering to dc twice into the corner stitch. Jn with slpstch and fasten off and tidy.
Add lettering using a running stitch in a slightly darker brown (which is why it doesn't show up so well here!). Then, join the two biscuits together (which hides the stitching) with the needle and light brown yarn.

I bunged mine in an old coffee jar...You could always enjoy with a crocheted brew, but the real ones are still the best! x
